The Patriot Foundation is an all-volunteer team that provides educational scholarships for military families. Originally focused on Airborne, Air Assault, and Special Operations soldiers, we now support military families across multiple installations and services that have a fallen, wounded, injured, or ill service member since September 11th 2001.
Our vision is to provide scholarship funding for children of killed, wounded, injured, or seriously ill soldiers from Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Campbell, KY, and Fort Carson, CO. Additionally, we provide a small percentage of funding for child care for the families of fallen and disabled soldiers whose surviving spouses need to obtain additional job training and development. In the past, we have also arranged a variety of other support from individual donors for specific purposes. Additional support efforts can be found under the Who We Serve tab (Other Support).
Founded in 2003, the Patriot Foundation supports families of servicemen and women killed, wounded, injured, or seriously ill, in the Global War on Terrorism. The organizations supported include the following Ft. Bragg organizations: 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Warrior Transition Battalion, Survivor Outreach Services, XVIII Airborne Corps, and the Joint Special Operations Command. In 2011, we also supported the Navy SEAL Foundation. Additionally, in 2015 we began supporting the families of the 101st Airborne Division (Ft. Campbell, KY). In 2017, we began supporting families of the 10th Special Forces Group and 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, CO. We intend to support the 10th Mountain Division (Ft. Drum, NY) and the 3rd Infantry Division (Ft. Stewart, GA), when our resources permit. We provided over $4,000,000 between 2011-2018 to help the families, and since 2003, have donated over $5,000,000. We have provided over 1,800 college scholarships, as well as child care for spouses who need to go back to school.
The Patriot Foundation is grateful for all the contributions it has received from its many corporate partners. Decisions regarding which child receives a grant are made by non-profit organizations we have aligned with which are expert on the needs of the families we benefit.
The Patriot Foundation raises money and donates it to these charities for disbursement. The Patriot Foundation has been recognized by the Southern Pines Pilot as a “winner” that “touches many lives” and has been praised by former Commanding Generals of the 82nd Airborne Division, the XVIII Airborne Corps, U. S. Army Forces Command, as well as, GEN Ray Odierno, former Chief of Staff of the Army, has stated: “You represent what I have never seen to this extent before: a dedication to our soldiers and their families and an appreciation for the sacrifice that they have shown over the last 10 years.”
In addition, the State of North Carolina gave the Patriot Foundation exceptional recognition in the form of a Proclamation which was presented at the 2015 Soldiers Appreciation Dinner. The Proclamation states: “that the Patriot Foundation creates hope and opportunity for those who have sacrificed so much for the freedom and security of a grateful nation and the State of North Carolina”. Former Govenor McCrory proclaimed September 26, 2015 as “SOLDIER APPRECIATION DAY” in North Carolina.
Numerous other laudatory news articles can be viewed on our website under the category: In The News. Your support has a high positive impact on family morale. The simple fact that someone is honoring the soldiers’ service, and assisting their families, is a powerful demonstration that ordinary citizens care about and support the troops.
